OPTICAL
ILLUSION
This piece, created by Gabriel Schunk Tokarski is an optical illusion artwork that plays with perspective, lines, and shapes to trick the eye. At first glance, the viewer may see one form, but as you study it, hidden patterns and dimensions emerge, creating a sense of movement and depth. Gabriel’s skillful use of contrast and geometry invites the audience to explore the piece from multiple angles, making it a captivating and interactive experience. It’s a brilliant example of how art can challenge perception and engage the imagination. Can you see Anne and Diana? look closely...
Gabriel has been a part of the Somerset Gables community for several years and is now a 6th grader. He has a passion for anime, Brazilian cuisine, drawing manga, and exploring the wonders of science. A taekwondo black belt, Gabriel first shone in our theater club three years ago, and his presence immediately lit up the stage! Over the years, he has taken on leading roles in our productions, and his energy and joy are just as contagious offstage as they are in his performances. We are truly fortunate to have such a talented young man as part of Somerset Gables Middle School, and I look forward to enjoying his enthusiasm and gifts in our program for as long as he’s with us. —Ms. Adriana
POETRY
Antonella Barrera has been a proud member of the Somerset Gables community since kindergarten. As the middle child in her family, with one older sibling and a younger brother, she brings both leadership and warmth to everything she does.
Antonella has a deep love for nature and animals and enjoys spending her free time drawing and expressing her creativity through art. She also practices aerial hoop, demonstrating incredible passion and discipline — when she sets her mind to something, she gives it one thousand percent.
Her talents extend both on and off the stage. Antonella’s poetry has been submitted to a national competition, showcasing her strength as a writer and creative thinker. Behind the scenes, she helped design and create the scenic side panels alongside our art teacher and fellow students, sketching and painting the beautiful backdrops that bring our production to life.
On stage, Antonella shines in her role as Ruby Gillis in Kindred Spirits, bringing energy and dedication to her performance she is an exceptional student, reader, and writer, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of this year’s theater production.
